What is the difference between precious and semi-precious gemstones ?
Precious gemstones are twelve birthstones one for each month of the year and semiprecious are the gemstones that aren’t birthstones. Precious gems are, for example a Diamond, Ruby, Emerald or Sapphire. Availability and beauty determine a gemstone’s value. These terms precious and semiprecious do not truly indicate a gemstone’s value. Semiprecious gemstones includes Cubic Zirconia, Synthetic Sapphires and Emeralds and they all laboratory grown gemstones while precious gemstones are all natural.
