What is the difference between raw and jpeg files?
First of all, nearly all printing processes typically used by amateur and professional photographers utilize jpeg files as inputs to their equipment. Jpeg files are finished files ready to print or view on a monitor or other device. All digital images start out as raw files inside the originating digital camera. The photographer determines whether to output these raw files from his camera or to have the camera do some internal processing to convert and save them to jpeg files before storing onto the particular storage device in the camera (i.e., compact flash, SD card, etc.). Some photographers like having the raw files to manipulate on their own studio computer equipment. We though, through much research and testing, like to trust the camera designers and set up our digital cameras as the designers intended to output nearly finished jpeg files. The Fujifilm digital SLR camera equipment we use is the best option for this type of workflow and print delivery.
