What is the difference between salt and metal disconnection?
With metal disconnection, the user may request to append the Reconnected layer (which represents the structure as given in the input structure) to the normalized InChI. This is done by selecting “Include bonds to metal”in the InChI generation program. A disconnected salt cannot be reconnected in this way. For instance, if you were to enter sodium ethanoate with a bond between O and Na (as below) into the InChI generation program, this bond would be disconnected with no choice to reconnect it.
