What is the difference between static energy and static electric?

0

Static referring to energy would mean an object that is not moving. So this would include Potential Energy – that is energy by virtue of the objects position ( Calculate using mass x gfs x height). Of course an object that is not moving could still possess, heat, light electrical energy etc. too. Electrostatics is something else entirely. Static electricity is formed by friction on various materials – notably plastics – which causes a static charge – electrons having been added or removed from the material . This static charge can be seen when rubbing a ballon for example which is then attracted to a wall or can be made to attract up someone’s hair or can cause a spark discharge. In nature it is responsible for Lightning of course.
