What is the difference between stubbies, hand peeled and machine peeled tipi poles?

Our recommended poles are peeled by hand. Most customers choose hand peeled because they are more authentic, have a little more character and are “beefier”. If you are going to leave your tipi (teepee) up year ’round, this is your best choice. We do offer an Economy Pole that has been machine peeled. This method shaves off a little more of the diameter of the pole and tends to be smoother. This is a good choice if you will be transporting your tipi (teepee) frequently. “Stubbies” are large diameter poles that have been cut down. They are intended to keep shipping costs down on larger tipis (teepees) whose recommended pole length is longer than 27′. They will not stick out of the top of the tipi (teepee) as far, but will still be safe.
