What is the difference between summary conviction and conviction on indictment?
a summary offence and conviction would be dealt with in magistrates court and the sentencing reflects this an indictable offence and conviction is dealt with in crown court and the sentence is by a judge and can therefore lead to longer imprisonment if custody is appropriate, up to and including held at HMP (Her Majesty’s Pleasure)
