What is the difference between vertical and horizontal bamboo?
Possibly the most appealing thing about vertical bamboo flooring is that the hardness is equivalent to some woods that are used in flooring (red oak being one), and it’s also 50% less likely to expand or shrink due to seasonal climate changes. Narrower strips than in the horizontal bamboo planks are used, and they are soaked, boiled, then either laminated or glued and then pressed together. Vertical bamboo flooring is available in the same color choices as its horizontal cousin — carbonized (darker color), light blonde as grown, and a variety of stains.
