TIC produces a passive outdoor sub-woofer in our GS50 and TFS50 units for a number of reasons, mostly to do with their exterior performance function. The main difference between a passive sub woofer and a powered or active sub woofer is that an active sub woofer has an amplifier contained within the unit which artificially amplifies the low level frequency signal received from the Receiver player by the active sub woofer.
