What Is The Difference Between Zen & Buddhism?

0

Zen Buddhism is a branch of Mahayana Buddhism, which in turn is a branch of Buddhism in general. It is most famous because of many Japanese teachers of that school, but it’s not the most numerous. The unique thing about it is that it claims that enlightenment can be achieved in this lifetime, if you try hard enough. The philosophy of Zen combines both Buddhism and Taoism into one neat package and it was first developed in China during the 8th century AD, but it was in Japan where it really blossomed heavily influenced by the Japanese aesthetics and stress on simplicity.
