What is the difference sugar and starch?
Once it’s in your body the main difference in the two is found in how quickly they are metabolized. Generally what is commonly referred to as table sugar, is a simple carbohydrate known as Sucrose. In the body, it becomes a source of energy, with a very short metabolic time, working as an instant-release fuel. Starch, a complex carbohydrate commonly found in potatos, rice, pasta, and many other foods, is also a source of energy, but with a longer metabolic time, working as a sustained-release fuel.
