What is the different between VMD (Video Motion Detection) and VS-WH100 (Passive Infrared) Motion sensor?

A9: There are two types of Motion Sensors: (1) VMD (video motion detection) is software-driven motion sensing method. This method is use by most DVR product. Motion is detected by comparing two consecutive images and see if there are any changes between the two images. The sensitivity level (or threshold of image change) can be adjusted (software setting) to minimize false alarm. (2) PIR (passive infrared) sensor is hardware-driven motion sensing method. It detects IR radiating from objects in its field of view, not physical motion in the image. PIR sensor is an electronic device designed to detect objects with temperature like human, animal, and automobile all emits IR radiation. The sensitivity level is fixed by default to avoid false alarm. It is immunity to cats, dogs, mouses, and birds, etc. that are less than 10kgs (will not cause false alarm).
