In June 2001, the Secretary of Defense established the Financial Management Modernization Program (FMMP) as one of his top priorities. The FMMP is developing the BEA that will provide a blue print for modernizing and standardizing DoD business processes and systems, to include requirements to facilitate capturing information on items in property and inventory management systems.
