What is the Ear Thermometer?
Temperature measurements are normally taken under the armpit or orally. Temperature differs according to the place where it is taken. Because the armpit can be tightly closed, the temperature here is close to the core temperature, but it takes about 10 minutes to measure it. Taking the temperature under the tongue requires the mouth to be closed, not an easy thing for a baby who finds it difficult to stay still. Our Ear Thermometer uses an infrared sensor to measure the temperature of the eardrum and the area around it, and requires just one second to get a reading. The interior of the ear is not significantly affected by the external ambient temperature, and is close to the hypothalamic area, the area of the core temperature. It therefore reflects the core temperature. Measuring the temperature of the eardrum enables a more accurate measurement of body temperature. Q: Tell me how the Ear Thermometer works.
