What is the Employability Skills Program all about?
The Employability Skills Certificate Program was designed to recognize a student’s mastery of employability skills valued by employers, to help students explore a career interest, and to provide a state credential of student mastery of employability skills. Students aged 14 and above are eligible to participate in this program. The minimum number of work hours required of students is 180 hours, which may be completed over the course of a quarter, semester, summer, year or longer, depending on the individual student’s capacity to learn and the district’s capacity to deliver. Upon successful completion of the program, the student may become involved in a State Skills Coop, Youth Apprenticeship Program, go directly to work, pursue an associate degree from a Wisconsin Technical College, or a Baccalaureate at a 4-year university.
