The focus of an earthquake is where the energy of an earthquake generates. The epicenter is the point on the Earth’s surface that is directly above the focus. The 1906 San Francisco earthquake was on of the most destructive ever recorded. In combination with a fire, nearly 700 people were killed and 250,000 were left homeless.
