What is the Feed-In -Tariff Scheme?

0

This is a UK scheme which launched in April 2010 and enables farmers to diversify into renewable energy production with a ready customer (energy companies). They will be paid for each kilowatt of energy produced, even electricity they use themselves. This will be financially advantageous to farmers compared to Glastir grant for renewable energy production, given the restriction on end use and guaranteed income (for 20 years). Consequently the ACRES grant focuses on manure/slurry efficiency, heat generation, energy and water efficiency improvements on farms rather than energy generation.
