What is the future of the Population Secretariat?
Population issues have not ended today. We shall continue to be relevant to the situation, as long as population issues of this country continue to exist. Our advocacy role aims at ensuring that people-centred policies, programmes and strategies as well as allocation of resources are put in place and are addressing population concerns. We are also in the process of turning POPSEC into a Population Council. It will be a governing body on population issues. However, we cannot do this without parliament’s approval. The bill will soon be tabled to parliament to decide on the matter.
