What is the GHS?
The Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals or GHS is an internationally agreed upon system set to replace the various different classification and labeling standards used in different countries. It is expected that the WHMIS requirements established under the Hazardous Products Act and associated Controlled Products Regulations will need to be amended to incorporate the new harmonized criteria for hazard classification and requirements for hazard communication; i.e., for MSDSs and labels.
