What is the Hawthorn Comprehensive Curriculum?
Each Hawthorn school and classroom follows the Hawthorn Comprehensive Curriculum. This detailed document incorporates national, state and other important learning standards, and gives all teachers an identical roadmap to guide them in your child’s learning journey. All of our students learn the same core concepts at the same time, no matter what building they attend. This is important for Hawthorn, since our campus encompasses four elementary buildings for students in grades Kindergarten through grade 5, as well as two middle schools for our students in sixth, seventh and eighth grades. Having these separate buildings is beneficial when it comes to creating intimate learning communities. Likewise, creating the unifying Hawthorn Comprehensive Curriculum is beneficial in ensuring that all students cover the same ground and receive the same instruction in all of our communities.
