Supergirl, a native of the space city Argo City- a Kryptonian suburb, re-engineered by her old Man, Zor-el ( always technical types here) is Superman"s feminine cousin and is properly Kara Zor-El. She was created by the science fiction writer Otto Binder in l962 possibly inspired by a combination of Marilyn Monroe and Jayne Mansfield. She was l6 when she landed on Earth. she was adopted by William ( I think) Danvers who was , like her real father, in the engineering profession- I think he worked for an electronics lab. She was thus known incognito as Linda Lee Danvers. She was a graduate of the fictional Stanhope ( a type of Buggy) college which methinks was a take-off on Oberlin college- as a Berline is also a type of Horse-drawn vehicle O"Berlin, get it- Buggy- a horse drawn carriage- same line of thought.
