What is the history of Bermuda shorts? Why is Bermuda so famous for their shorts?
The British Military first adapted cut off trousers to accomodate the troops in their global empire. Many of the climates that were part of the Empire then were in the tropics, and long pants were uncomfortable. The troops were encouraged to cut their trousers off at the knee, and accompany the shorts with knee high socks. This look was well adapted in Bermuda by the 1950’s with most Bermudian men feeling very comfortable wearing bright coloured shorts. Today the tradition still remains strong, and no wardrobe is complete in the tropics without a pair of comfortable Bermuda shorts, preferrably in a nice bright colour.
