What is the history of the grilled cheese sandwich?
The grandson of the Earl of Sandwich was Sir Charles Eefrem Seymore Sandwich (which for convenience sake, he signed Ch.Ee.Se.) He was brought up on charges of witchcraft (folks having misunderstood the suffix in his name as “witch” rather than “wich.”) The authorities spend an expended time grilling him about his activities, views, and tastes in brooms. As the grilling took place, his supporters and detractors all gathered outside the courthouse with nothing to eat but cheese and bread. There was a fire to warm their bodies since it was the dead of winter. They noticed their cheese melting on their bread and could not escape the irony of the moment. While Ch.EE.se Sandwich was being grilled inside the courtroomn, they were grilling cheese sandwiches by the fire outside. Loving the taste of the new found delicacy, they named it in honor of the nobleman who was either burned at the stake or release on his own recognizance and later fled to Autstralia depending upon your personal preferen
