All students will be alerted by staff from the Residence Life office to make preparations for a hurricane within 36 hours of landfall. Students living in campus residence halls, who are from the local area, will be encouraged to evacuate the campus and return to their homes unless their home is in an evacuation area. Commuting students will not be permitted to stay on campus unless their home is in an evacuation area. All resident students who leave campus must sign out with their Resident Assistant indicating their destinations. While realizing that changing weather conditions and the severity of the hurricane may dictate otherwise, all resident students remaining on campus will move to the designated campus hurricane shelter (the New Residence Hall) five (5) hours prior to landfall.
