What is the Iranian currency and what coins and bank notes are available?
The Iranian currency is the Rial. The “Tooman” is also a common unit which is equivalent to 10 Rials. There are coins of 50, 100 and 250 Rials and bank notes of 1000, 2000, 5000 and 10000 Rials. 100-Rial notes can also be found but are not commonly used. You can exchange money in any bank or money exchange shop. There is no difference between the bank and the black market rate. Few shops and hotels accept credit card, but it is always better to have cash money with you.
