What is license borrowing? – It is a technology solution to enable individual licenses to be “checked-out” from a network protection key for a limited time. In other words it allows individual licenses to be detached from a network license (key) for temporary “off the network” usage. How does license borrowing work? – A license can be borrowed for any period measured in days, limited by GRAPHISOFT up to 30 days. The IT manager can lessen this limit according to the internal company policies. Any user, who already obtained a license from the key-server, can initiate license borrowing. The detached license will temporarily reduce the number of licenses available on the network key. The detached license can be “taken away” in two ways: either by using an empty CodeMeter dongle (preprogrammed by GRAPHISOFT for this purpose) or by generating a “soft” (software) license bound to a dedicated computer (PC).
