What is the life span of an asphalt driveway versus a concrete driveway?
Asphalt is a very durable driveway with a long life expectancy if the proper structural foundation is installed. Asphalt seal coat can be applied to maintain a ‘new driveway look’ as well as extend the life of the driveway itself. Cracking can be repaired, and extensions added later. Concrete once installed is permanent. Chipping or cracking is permanent. If concrete sealer is used stain removal is possible but otherwise permanent. Eroding base or ground movement can cause concrete slabs to heave, tilt and even sink.
