What is the LSSU Athletic Training Program?
The LSSU athletic training education program was established in 1993. The athletic training concentration is designed to prepare students for a career in athletic training and the National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA) Board of Certification examination. In order to become a NATA certified athletic trainer (ATC), a student must complete the course work outlined in NATA’s “Competencies in Athletic Training,” complete the necessary clinical observation hours, and possess a bachelor’s degree. The athletic training program is designed to allow the students to achieve this criteria and prepare them for a career in the profession of athletic training. Upon completion of requirements, students receive a bachelor of science degree in exercise science with a concentration in athletic training.
