I was an LDS missionary there for 2 years. The Roman Catholic church is very strong and has massive influence within the country, to the extend that when asked what religion people are they often reply "the normal church". Despite many referring to their religion as the normal religion there are many wonderful and very devout Catholics, particularly the older generation. Due to political beliefs many people have abandoned religion, so although they are still listed as catholic there is a huge population of atheists. There are many Muslim immigrants, however they really aren't accepted well so they remain in small groups; there are also small communities of Hasidic Jews in a few cities. Jehovah Witnesses have lots of adherents there while the Mormon church is rather small. Other protestant religions are encountered from time to time but none have a huge presence there. Hope this helps. ... more
