What is the Maroochydore Station Corridor Study?
In 2001, the Queensland Government earmarked a location for the Maroochydore railway station as part of the Caboolture to Maroochydore Corridor Study. The Horton Park Golf Course’s plans for a future relocation gave the Sunshine Coast Regional Council and the department the opportunity to investigate an alternative site for the Maroochydore station, closer to the city centre. The department engaged consultants Parsons Brinckerhoff to undertake investigations to compare the currently approved station location at Southern Drive with an alternative location near Carnaby Street. A third option located opposite First Avenue was also considered however this is no longer an option due to cost, environmental impacts and further refinements to the Maroochydore City Centre Master Plan.
