What is the meaning behind the song one tin soldier?

0

One Tin Soldier is a ‘60s era anti-war song written by Dennis Lambert and Brian Potter. The Canadian pop group “Original Caste” first recorded the song in 1969. The track briefly reached limited popularity locally but never broke into the larger US and World charts. In 1972 the US rock group Coven recorded the song as part of the sound track for the movie Billy Jack. This release, titled as “One Tin Soldier (The Legend of Billy Jack)”, made it into the top 40 charts, but once again the release became known as a one hit wonder. The song is a classic anti-war song that uses an abstract story about a hidden treasure and two feuding people (the Mountain People vs. the Valley People) to describe man’s inhumanity to man when greed is involved. The lyrics of the song are in the Twin Lakes 4-H camp official songbook.
