What do you mean the meaning of the poem? What’s occurring in the poem? Hopefully you want to know what’s happening in the poem because that’s the answer im giving… Well a maestro is a composer/conductor, and the speaker of the poem is now a maestro. He just gave his first performance and the audience is wildly applauding him. However, he’s deaf to the applause because all he can remember is his mother’s. He starts reminiscing about the memories of performing and practicing music with his mother and father, and he goes into detail about the music they played. This poem is basically just a piece of poetry that portrays the sense of nostalgia he’s feeling towards the good ol’ days.
