Mark/Close Down – This is telling the Defender/Midfielder to man mark a specific player. Works well if you’re playing Messi or a superstar for instance, as long as the player you’re instructing has a high marking skill. (90+) Go In Hard – Useful if you’re looking to hurt an opposition player, maybe they have a skillful striker, and you want to slow him down a bit, but this could mean a sending off for your side, so use sparingly. Take On – Use this if your wingers (WG R/L or AML/R) are skillful and their full backs aren’t very good/fast. It means to try and dribble around the player. Wind up – This is verbally abusing the opposition so that they commit an offence, or get sent off. Works well on Robbie Savage of Derby County. Stand Off – Standing off a player means to give them space so that the opposition do not turn your players and get past them. Works well if your defenders are slow and their wingers are quick. You should tell your fullbacks to take on wingers, tell your DMC to mark
