What is the Memorial Church and who designed it?
The Christ Church Milton building was designed by Richard Suter, the Diocesan architect, and the foundation stone was laid on 21 February by Mrs Tufnell, the wide of Bishop Tufnell, the new church was dedicated by the newly appointed Bishop Matthew Hale on 16 January 1876. Bishop Hale declared at the ceremony: In memory of the blessed dead who lie in Gods acre around us, and named the building the Memorial Church.
