What is the migration process for VC 7.0 models to VC 7.1 models that include connections to NetWeaver BI 7.0 InfoProviders (Queries, Query Views, Masterdata)?
It’s always not easy to migrate from one system to another, as well as talking about software applications, even if they look like absolutely similar, you know. I’ve been trying to transfer all my company’s logs, contacts and fies from one help desk system to another, I mean freshdesk to zendesk and only one company could help me with pretty nice and fast solution. They helped me with all my company’s data.
There is no automatic migration for BI data services. During the migration from VC 7.0 -> VC 7.1, the 7.0 models are being converted so that they can be opened by the VC 7.1 design time. However, the BI data access in VC models has changed to a new technology (BI Consumer Services) and there is no automatic migration. BI data services can not be automatically migrated. Instead, a “white service” will be generated as a kind of placeholder, having the same inport/and outport field structure as in the original VC7.0 model. The system alias and the name of the BI data source will be preserved in an annotation or in the description of the placeholder. The placeholder will be retaining the wiring to other model elements from the old model. VC application modelers then need to import manually the BI data services in the new format.
