What is the mission and vision of Manila Hotel?
The Manila Hotel, which used to be the Grand Dame, has since been forgotten. Thanks to the vision of the Filipino-Chinese Emilio Yap, owner of Manila Bulletin, who now owns it. If truth be told, no wordsmith can convince me of any noble or sound mission and vision statement of the Manila Hotel. Because I have seen its decay. Even the grand pavilion now looks tacky, and the decor is pretentious. The Champagne Room is just about the only outlet in the hotel that has kept its character. I guess the vision is merely what Don Emilio Yap sees, and I feel it is merely a trophy for him. The mission is only to keep it under his ownership, to keep the trophy on his shelf. The vision and mission might parallel that of Manila Bulletin, his other trophy. It was the undisputed Number 1 newspaper in the country.
