What is the mission of the Visit Fairfax sports marketing department?
The sports marketing department partners with sports planners to attract, grow, and create events that draw participants and spectators from outside the D.C. area. This translates into economic impact (e.g., tax revenues, jobs, infrastructure development) for the county through increased visitor spending at area hotels and local businesses. While we don’t own or manage events, we work closely with event rights-holders and local sports groups that have sports event planning expertise.
