I think that it is probably Cerberus, the three headed dog of the underworld. Heracles (the Greek version of Hercules) has to go into Hades to chain the dog as one of the challenges set him by Hera, Zeus’ wife. Cerberus has been immortalised through this myth, through Dante’s Inferno and through various modern takes such as Fluffy, the three headed dog guarding the Philosophers Stone in the first Harry Potter book and Cerberus in Devil May Cry 3.
