Possibly the most common granite we see in buildings is a charcoal grey variety and polished to a high sheen it reflects the sunlight from our monolithic skyscrapers. Granite can vary tremendously in price, and that is based a lot on where it’s from, what color it is, any unusual striations in the rock, how thick it is, and how much it weighs. There is a huge variance so it’s good to look around a bit, both in stone yards and also on the web. Quality can vary tremendously, too. The most expensive slabs are not always the best, and the inexpensive ones are not always the poorest. Granite can be thought of like wine — and has just about the same amount of varieties and suits an equal number of tastes.
