What is the most remarkable thing in the traditional Turkish mens costumes?
Well there are a myriad of different clothing styles all peculiar to their regions of origin, but except rural communities they are not worn anymore since the adoption of European style dress in 1925 during the early days of the republic (by law the use of traditional/religious dress is restricted. http://tr.wikipedia.org/wiki/K%C4%B1yafet_devrimi). The occasions to come across contemporary examples of traditional dress are limited to folkloric gatherings and dance performances in an average Turkish city. That being said there are some very interesting costumes from the Ottoman eras. One that I find interesting is the dresses worn by the bandit turned patriots of the War of Independence some of whom had served with my forefathers. It is the non-uniform dress of paramilitaries of Western Turkey, namely Aegean Region I am from. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zeybek http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:Efe_%28leaders_of_Turkish_outlaws_and_soldiers%29 Images: http://images.google.com.
