What is the most sought after game animal in North America?
If by “sought after” you mean which animal has the most hunters, undoubtedly deer. If you’re talking about what most hunters would like to shoot, in North America, you have to broaden the choice. I would vote for elk but there are those who would say sheep. Judging from my own experience I would say more hunters go after dove than anything else…but you asked about animals. I began hunting with jackrabbits but I don’t think they’re as abundant now as they used to be and areas where you can shoot them are limited. Moose, bear and caribou and fine but too expensive. So I would vote for deer as the most sought after but elk as the most desirable.
