What is the national public health accreditation program?
The goal of the national public health accreditation program is to improve and protect the health of the public by advancing the quality and performance of all public health departments across the country. With broad input and support from public health practitioners, the accreditation program has developed standards that state, local, tribal and territorial health departments can implement to ensure they are providing the best services possible to keep their communities safe and healthy and to demonstrate accountability to their communities.
