The New Route PhD is a national initiative offered in 31UK universities. It provides an integrated approach to teaching and research with taught modules being followed across the first two years of your research degree. You should note that this integrated approach is a feature of many of Warwick’s existing doctoral courses. It has been designed to help postgraduates meet the demands of a changing world, equipping them with the professional and personal skills that are increasingly necessary in the workplace. The New Route PhD aims to help students broaden and deepen their subject knowledge whilst giving them the opportunity for inter-disciplinary study to develop expertise and skills in new areas. There will be a range of professional skills available as advanced taught modules and these may include: • Languages • Business Methods and Enterprise skills • Media Related Skills • Advanced /specialist IT • Teaching skills.
