What is the NMLS or NMLSR?
NMLS is the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry. Each applicant is required to submit applicant information, including fingerprints, personal history and experience. This information is stored in a national database of mortgage originators, developed and maintained by the Conference of State Bank Supervisors.
- I am currently working as a mortgage loan originator, but not yet licensed under the NMLS. Should I still comply with the old continuing education requirement for my state?
- Must a state require loan originator license applicants to furnish to the NMLSR fingerprints and authorization to obtain a credit report to the NMLSR?
