What is the oldest active brewery in the world?
Weihenstephan Brewery is the oldest active brewery in the world. It was founded in 1040 A.D. in Freising, Bavaria. There’s supposedly a brewery in Zatec (Czech Republic) that claims it can produce records of having paid a beer tax in 1004 A.D., but according to the town’s history (on its official site), the city allowed the brewing of beer from 1261 A.D. which puts that claim into question.
