What is the original source of energy for coal?
The sun. Solar energy was collected by plants which used the energy in photosynthesis to create plants. These plants which died millions of years ago, were placed under tremendous pressure by being buried under the surface of the earth. They slowing rearranged their molecular configuration to become the complex bunch of chemicals we call coal.
