What is the percentage of left and right handed people in the world?
Not sure about that. Researchers think that there is an innate genetic link common to most humans as to why there are so many more right handed people than lefties around the globe. They also think it may be attributed to some trauma suffered in the womb during gestation. The ratio in America is roughly 1 left handed person for every 10 right handed people, so right handed people to left handed people 10:1. There are 10 times more righties than lefties. The interesting thing is that history would indicate that people have always been predominantly right handed and there has been a stigma associated with lefties. Not too long ago, and still in some countries, left handed people are forced to write with their right hand to be ‘normal’. The term ambidextrous which means having equal proficiency with both hands actually translates to literally ‘two rights’, so this shows a bias towards the right hand, so that would indicate that right-handedness has always been predominant in humans.
