There is softball in the 2008 Olympics in China. There won’t be softball in the 2012 Olympics in London. There is an effort afoot to bring it back for the 2016 games.

At present, there won’t be any format for the next Olympics, as it was voted out for the 2008 Olympics in China. Before that time, there was round robin play to get to the best teams, who then started into an elimination round. At present, they are trying to bring it back, most likely for the 2012 Olympics. It would require a major change in thinking to have softball back in the Olympics for 1008.
