^ very true, well over a million at the moment But from the point of this discussion, we’re talking in at least 30 years time (and longer than that in my opinion) and thus the population of Brisbane will have increased significantly by then. The series B project puts the population at 3.3 million by 2051, add on the GC which would be over a million and the combined population would exceed that of Sydney when it held the games. That isn’t including the Sunshine Coast (0.7 million) or the rest of Moreton close by to Brisbane (0.4 million). I personally wouldn’t include Toowoomba. It is possible that the population within 120km of the Brisbane CBD would exceed that within the equivalent distance of the Melbourne CBD by 2060 or so.
