There is quite a bit of research on the effects of different or maladaptive parenting styles as they relate to different aspects of development, particularly on the incidence of adolescent drug use and social functioning. Back to our question about the prevalence of different parenting styles – I think the better question is “Are there stereotypical differences between mothers and fathers that arise across the board?” Again, this is a question that I can answer based only on my own experience.
