What is the process for obtaining a vehicle inspection sticker?
When reporting for inspection, you are required to bring one of the following documents to identify the vehicle: • Your DC vehicle registration or a valid out of state registration AND • Proof of Insurance Pleasure vehicles, such as campers and RVs, must be inspected every two years. Commercial vehicles are inspected every year, and vehicles for hire, such as limousines and taxicabs, are inspected every six months. The annual inspection fee must be paid at the time of registration. Individuals with vehicles that fail inspection can obtain instruction sheets with specific information on repairs from the inspection station’s lane team chief. The DMV inspects these items, including lights, brakes, suspension, emissions, and other safety components. The DMV will not inspect vehicles that smoke excessively.
